[bristol-birds] Nesting Red-headed Woodpecker Russell County,VA

While birding on Big Cedar Creek in Lebanon, VA two
weeks ago I saw a Red-headed Woodpecker working on
excavating a nest cavity. It was still in the area
last Saturday. On the 17th I saw one clearing out the
nest cavity and I heard another in the area.
This morning both birds were working on the nest
cavity and flycatching along the creek.
These birds are located in the same tree where Fred &
Janice Martin found a pair last fall. We never did see
evidence of nesting then but they are at least
attempting to nest. The nest cavity is in a dead
Sycamore along Big Cedar Creek.
