The whole family enjoyed viewing several Common Loons while on vacation =
in Gulf Shores/Dauphin Island, Alabama this past week. Both areas are =
classic migrant traps and neither was disappointing. We identified 82 =
species of birds, 29 of which were lifers! Highlights included: Purple =
Gallinule, A. Swallowtail Kite, White-winged Dove, Scarlet Tanager, =
Rose-breasted Grosbeak, A. Oystercatcher, and a banded White-eyed Vireo =
that son, Sammy, released. Bob Sargent of the HBSG says Hello to all the =
good folks at Bristol Bird Club and a special hello from Betty G. and =
Joye of Alabama (TN birds suscribers) to Wallace.
An unfortunate absentee was the Reddish Egret and noticably unseen was =
the A. Robin.
