[bristol-birds] Osprey

Yesterday, while driving along the South Holston River near Rivers Way (up
stream from the the Pvt Carrier Memorial Bridge, route 44, near Hickory Tree
in Sullivan County), I observed three Osprey feeding along the river. One had
a trout in his (or her) talons. According to Rivers Way staff, they have been
hanging around for a couple of days.
Friday, April 5, was the last day of my participation in the 2001-2002
Cornell FeederWatch program. In addition to the ususal array of local birds,
I had four Purple Finches, and a lone Swamp Sparrow (a first at my feeding
station). I also observed a male House Finch feeding a female what appeared
to be black oil sunflower seeds from his crop. Great way to end up the
season. If you are interested in joining for 2002-2003, contact the Cornell
Lab of Orinithology at birds.cornell.edu/pfw/ for more information.
