[Bristol-Birds] Possible Raven Nest Site

While riding on the Creeper Trail yesterday, Joan and I spotted a Common Raven
hanging out near a limestone cliff just above the Middle Fork, Holston River
(between Watauga and Alvarado). It was still hanging around the cliff when we
came back down the trail, flying in and out of some crevises as if looking for
a nesting site. A frequent biker on the trail from Watauga, VA, told me later
that Ravens were there last year during mating season. The location is between
mile markers five and six, near bridge # 9. I plan to spend more time in that
area next week.
Ravens are not uncommon for me on the Creeper Trail, especially between mile
markers four and seven. Yesterday, I heard Phoebes all up and down the Trail,
and also spotted a Hairy Woodpecker, and Three Pileated WP. Before leaving
home, I saw and heard two Ravens flying over my house (Evergreen Hills, Exit
10, Bristol, VA).
