Bristol Birders:
This photo of a Long-eared Owl was taken Sunday, March 11, 2007, north of
Danville in northeastern Boyle County, Kentucky
by Richard Kretz of Russell Co., Va. It was one of four owls of this species
roosting in the yard of a residence. This is a great photo.
Below the photo I have included the post about these owls which appeared on the
list BIRDKY.
Let's go birding.....

From: Palmer-Ball, Brainard
Via a roundabout path, Lexington birder Dave Svetich recently learned of the
presence of four Long-eared Owls roosting in the yard of Mr. Kirtley Settles,
3553 Old Shakertown Road, north of Danville in northeastern Boyle County. I
believe KY 33 is "Old Shakertown Road", but I am not positive. This is on the
KY Gazetteer, page 71, Block D-7; Mr. Settles lives on the west side of KY 33
north of the jct. with Buster Pike (I think). The birds can be spooked from the
roost tree easily, but Mr. Settles is willing to allow birders to see the owls
by arrangement with him via phone (859-236-5032). The birds have been seen by
several KOS members. Please visit only after talking with Mr. Settles.
