[Bristol-Birds] Mergansers departure evidence

The Hooded Merganser population at Middlebrook Lake in Bristol Tennessee is 
down about 70% from the number (112) present Thurs. (Mar. 2).  While it is 
possible the others moved to Clear Creek Lake in Washington County, we will not 
know if their spring migration is underway until we watch this play out.  
Please report the number of Hoodeds seen there with each of your visits so we 
can again make our yearly estimate of the their spring departure.  A few birds 
will remain in the area in samll numbers, pairs or as individuals into early 
summer.

The Trammel Road Pond, just downstream from Middlebrook Lake, had 4 
Green-winged Teals.  These were the first of this species I've seen there this 
winter.  It has been a habitat frequented by the teals in recent years.
