Hello!
Two other books that might be helpful are the Sibley Guide to Bird Life
and Behavior which is an excellent general source for birds of North America
as well as The Birder's Handbook which also covers all birds of North
America. Both have information about nests/behavior/eggs rather than about
identifying species.
Cheers!

I've located a large nest in the forks of a shaggy-barked hickory. It's

I
don't know how to describe my impression of the size but maybe 20 inches
across. (Rough guess based on tree size) It's a new construction with a
lot
of fresh twig and vine material in the base and the nest is not neatly
constructed. The center of the nest is lined in bright green, my guess
is
moss.
Does anyone know how I could research this nest?
