Area Birders,
With 5 inches of snow and strong winds the birds fed heavily today at the
feeders. The bare cherry tree was decorated with 27 cardinals as 3 Fox Sparrows
fed with 3 Eastern Towhees 34 Red-winged Blackbirds, 3 White-throated Sparrows,
4 Song Sparrows and 15 Mourning Doves.
5 Eastern Bluebirds came in for their daily meal of meal worms. They rushed in
to gobble about 30 of them down quickly almost before I had stepped away from
the feeding tray. They then sat on the side of the tray in the wind, waiting
for more. I put out more worms, and they gobbled those down. They seemed really
hungry, and within an hour I went out a total of 4 times to feed them. They
certainly have me well trained.
Enjoy the birds,
