[Bristol-Birds] Shady Valley Woodcock trip,

Birders,
Yesterday (29th) fourteen members of the Bristol Bird Club
attended the Woodcock trip to Shady Valley, Johnson County, TN.
We observed twenty five bird species and over 179 individual birds.
It was a beautiful day for birding with temperatures up in the 70's!
The highlights for today were, Brewer's Blackbird (Rare, only one record
(2) 17 Nov. 1991.) Tree Swallow (earliest record we know of is March 8)
and the American Woodcock.
Birds observed were,
Black Vulture~3
Turkey Vulture~1
Mourning Dove~11
European Starling~22
Song Sparrow~12
Wilson's Snipe~2
Swamp Sparrow~1
Red-tailed Hawk~1
American Crow~7
Common Raven~2
Red-winged Blackbird~26
Tree Swallow~1 (4:53pm EST)
Tufted Titmouse~2
Northern Cardinal~1
Killdeer~2
Yellow-bellied Sapsucker~2
Mallard~8
House Sparrow~1
Blue Jay~1
Common Grackle~2
American Robin~34
Eastern Meadowlark~1
Canada Geese~22 (new "max" record for the valley)
Brewer's Blackbird~1 (no asterisk)
American Woodcock~3
