Netherland Inn Road
South Fork Holston River
Kingsport
Sullivan Co., TN
Great Blue Heron 4 birds standing on and near a few nests on
the little island just offshore of the park area.

near Phipps Island
Holston River
Hawkins Co., TN
~ 1,000 American Robins behind this address and in backyards
along the river. This is the first wave of migrants heading north
for spring. Every bird I could scan was a male. This is typical
early wave composition. Usually such migrants come the last
week of February. Only other explanation might be a
nearby winter roost of robins.
Phipps Bend
2.5 miles ESE of Surgoinsville
Holston River
Hawkins Co. TN

Common Raven 1 bird standing on the concrete building structure
of the abandoned nuclear power plant construction. It called
repeatedly. This was believed to be a nesting site last March.
Great Blue Heron 3 birds standing on 9 nests in Sycamore tree along shoreline,
across the river from the abandon construction site of the
nuclear power plant. At least third known year of a rookery at
this location.
Common Merganser 2 females.
Let's go birding.....
