Wednesday my mail carrier knocked on my door to tell me that on Tuesday 
during all the cold snow showers she had stopped at my mail box and was 
startled by movement as she started to put my mail in.  There was a tiny 
reddish brown owl in the back of the box.  She said she had been delivering 
mail 31 years and this was a first.  It didn't fly out until she backed up 
the mail truck.  Right now my mail box is missing the front flap as vandals 
hit it.  Don't think I'll replace it now until the cold weather is over.  
Wednesday night a little red screech owl was sitting on a wire above my suet 
feeder when I came home after dark.  I must have critters other than 
raccoons visiting at night.
Also last Monday I observed an adult bald eagle cruising down the river as I 
crossed the new bridge at Ft. Patrick Henry Dam on Ft. Henry drive in 
Kingsport.    Judy Roach
