Birders
The BBC will host a field trip to Shady Valley, TN at 5 pm on Saturday,
February 19, in search of Woodcock and other species in the Tennessee Nature
Conservancy's Orchard Bog area. Janice Martin is the scheduled leader of this
exciting event that produced not only Woodcocks last year, but also a Brewer's
Blackbird in the early evening. The Woodcock show should start at dark or just
before. In order to be in our place and take in some crepuscular bog activity I
recommend meeting at the silo of the cross roads intersection by 5 PM from
which
we can depart enmass for Orchard Bog. This is the location of a restaurant
and store for those wishing to eat supper in Shady Valley prior to the field
trip.
The Herndon Chapter is reported to have a concurrent field trip scheduled in
Shady Valley and I expect we will encounter them at Orchard Bog if not before.
NOTE: Dress warm!
Until we bird again
