I took a quick trip today (2/15) to Hiwassee and Kingston Power Plant. At
Hiwassee my wife and I saw at least 2-3000 cranes (Amazing!) but no whooper.
:>(
Also saw 2 redheads, 6 bufflehead, one dc cormorant and a dozen or so
ring-billed gulls. About 1/2 dozen savannah sparrows were bathing in a puddle
near
the cranes. At Kingston, I only had about 15-20 minutes and saw little other
than a breedong colony of great blue herons.....I would guess, from my
distance, about 20 adults. John Moyle Kingsport
P.S. Had a short-eared owl in my yard and adjacent fields in the rain on
Monday.
