Area Birders,
It was a day for unusual species to arrive at my feeders. Before noon in
addition to all the regulars, there were two male Purple Finches, a Pine
Siskin, a Red-breasted Nuthatch and a Chipping Sparrow. Chipping Sparrows are a
rarity at my elevation of 2400 feet during winter.
Later in the evening five Eastern Bluebirds came in for their daily feeding of
mealworms. Also unusual was the high number of eight Carolina Chickadees that
came to the feeders all at once.
The Cooper's hawk that came by yesterday didn't show up today.
Enjoy the birds,

Roger Mayhorn
