Hi Area Birders:
While fly fishing for trout this morning on the South Holston River, I
spotted a mature Bald Eagle sitting atop a dead sycamore tree beside the
river. He (or she) appeared to be trout fishing too, but flew over to the
nearest ridge when approached by a local resident intent on taking a picture.
What a beautiful site: the Eagle was facing the rising sun, which made the
coloration even more spectacular. A great way to start off another Ground Hog
Day, even though he saw his shadow too; and I didn't catch a thing except a
chill.
Location: About one half mile up river from the PVT. Carrier Memorial Bridge
(Route 44), near Hickory Tree. I was on the private drive that goes to Rivers
Way. Coordinates: 36-30-39 N; 82-07-35 W.

PS I think this local network is a great idea that is long overdue. Way to go
Wallace and others who help set it up!! Three cheers!
