I observed the following today in the western part of Greene County:
Gadwall (31)
American Black Duck (4)
Northern Shoveler (9, on Gravel Woods Road)
Green-winged Teal (12)
Ring-necked Duck (3)
Ring-billed Gull (112--a significant total for this species in Greene County)
Red-headed Woodpecker (2, on Green Road)
Horned Lark (6, on Baughard Hill Road)
Rusty Blackbird (125, on Green Road--a significant total for this species)
Late post: yesterday I observed a flock of 50+ Horned Larks on Holly Creek
Road, between Greeneville and Tusculum. This is an uncommonly high number for
this species. Typically, flocks of HOLA in Greene County number no more than
25 birds.
