[Bristol-Birds] Re: Bristol Christmas Bird Count Results

Area birders,
Something else that is noteworthy of this years count. The weather made it
tough, tough, tough. The early morning calm with cloudy conditions gave way to
windy conditions (around noon time in my area) with gusts upwards of 25+mph at
Little Oak Campground. The midday winds brought in early afternoon showers
that gave way to steady rain by 4pm. I was traveling home with light on the
horizon because of miserably rainy conditions that took my party out of our
area earlier than expected. I think such weather conditions will make many of
the individual species counts lower than normal.
The spirit of the count shined through in the individuals who persevered in the
deteriorating weather conditions that made the count far tougher than we've had
in a few years(except for me who ran for my car every time a rain drop hit my
head). My hats are off to all who participated - well done!

PS - The weather conditions did, I think, help the Shady Valley_Mountain City
CBC on January 1 a little bit. While I still haven't compiled the species
(just got the reports), it looks like a pretty good count there too!
Excelsior!
