[Bristol-Birds] Shady Valley Golden Eagle

John Shumate's observation of a Golden Eagle feeding on a deer carcass
in Shady Valley indicates that at this time of year these birds are
cruising high over the mountains, and they are not just confined to
Burke's Garden. In fact, they are seen at Burke's Garden, Va., because
there is a fairly substandital sheep raising operation there and in
February when lambing begins, the Golden Eagles show up to eat the
afterbirth from lambing. The farmers there do not harm the eagles
because they know from experience that they do not attack the lambs, but
are doing a natural cleanup.
I would strongly suspect that if farmers in Shady Valley also began
sheep raising we would have regular winter sightings of Golden Eagle's
there.
If you build it, they will come.
