[Bristol-Birds] Holston River Birds, Kingsport

I was birding along the Holston River in the vicinity of the Netherland Inn
in Kingsport on Tuesday, Jan. 11. I saw four coots, one double-crested
cormorant, 2 ring-necked ducks, six ring-billed gulls, four killdeer, 50 Canada
geese, a dozen or so mallards, an immature bald eagle and an indeterminant
number
of vultures (both black and turkey) due to the rain. Some were perched on
power structures or trees, while others were landing and flying off again for a
short distance. I believe that this is part of the large population that has
been hanging around that end of Bays Mountain for over a week.
