Tonight, the 8th, I finally got a chance to go back out and do some night
time predator calling on Boyd Ridge. While on the way, I saw a possum beside
of the road. Kinda neat to see one beside the road that isnt dead. lol. Also
while on the way, I saw a screech owl fly in the headlights. So dad stops
the truck and we watched him for a while. He pearched on a small sapling
tree and sit a few seconds and then got nervous and flew. I think he was a
life bird for me.

At our second setup, I began with a coyote howl. Immediatly two barred owls
responded. Scared me at first because they were so close and sounded like
two coyotes. They responded with a high pitched, coyote like scream. So
immediatly the adrenaline starts flowing and im ready to get this hunt
really kicked in. then I hear them start to sound like owls and everything
gets back to normal. When we finished the hunt, dad shined the like all
around in the woods just to give everything a second look. We spotted an
owl. Apparently he was in the mood for a dying rabbit. They look different
when viewed in a red light. Rather eerie. Eventhough we didnt save a few
grouse and turkeys tonight by taking a coyote, we did have a good hunt.
