Area Birders:

I want to compliment Rob Biller for the really great job he did in compiling
and reporting the Shady Valley/Mountain City CBC, sponsored by the Bristol
Bird Club.

It was very appropriate that the count remembers one of its former
participants and famous birders Howard Langridge who passed away recently.

Rob's breakdown of parties is a very significant contribution to the
knowledge of winter birds in Shady Valley.  We can now look closely at the
species and number results for this area.  Shady is Tennessee's highest
mountain valley and one of the most significant bird areas of the state.  It
is very important that we have specific winter data from the valley.

Thank you again, Rob, for the great help and your best-ever compilation for
Shady Valley.  I know the members of the Bristol Bird Club truly appreciate
all you and have done for us as count compiler.  Keep up the good work.

Also thanks to the birders who turned out on New Years Day, gave up bowl
games, and braved an early-morning start after New Years Eve to participate
in the count.  A fine effort.
