[Bristol-Birds] Mutants are coming!

While driving on Wilcox Drive in Kingsport, just south of the Eastman Credit
Union, I was startled by the appearance of an unusual robin in the grass
fields along the Drive. It was one of a flock of 12 or more robins feeding on
worms in the warm weather. The bird had a nearly all white head, nape and
throat,
yellow beak (seemingly lighter that those of the others), white secondaries
and a couple of white primary feathers when in flight. A slight crescent of
white came from the throat area into the top of the breast. Just above and
below the eyes there were slight smudges of gray. It was truly a striking
bird.
Shortly, thereafter, I was driving out Industry drive toward the west from
Wilcox Drive. Climbing out of the water of the Holston River near the
Netherlands Inn, accompanied by similar sized Canada geese, was a goose with
white
head, yellow-orange beak and legs> everything else was as that of a Canada
goose
including size, gait and coloring. The only deviation other than head, beak
and leg color may have been a slightly thicker neck.
The mutants are coming!!! I also saw a kettle of black and turkey vultures
on the northwest side of Bays Mountain. It was comprised of at least 85
birds.......they seemed about evely divided among the two species.
