GLADE SPRING CBC RESULTS

TOTAL SPECIES: 66 (68 in 2003)
TOTAL BIRDS COUNTED: 6369 (9884 in 2003)
NOTES: The relatively lower count number is mainly due to lower numbers for
Mallards, Mourning Doves, and European Starlings. Last year we counted 4059
Starlings, 750 Mallards, and 970 Mourning Doves. The Golden Eagle was seen in
Area B at the Big Tumbling Creek Ranger Station. The Ross's Goose was seen in
Area C at the Saltville ponds.
Birds seen this year but not in last year's count: Northern Harrier, Golden
Eagle, Ross's Goose, Ruby-crowned Kinglet, Purple Finch, Brown-headed Cowbird,
Gray Catbird, Loggerhead Shrike.
Birds seen last year but not in this year's count: Pied-billed Grebe, Am.
Wigeon, Northern Shoveler, Redhead Duck, Ruffed Grouse, Wild Turkey, Hermit
Thrush, Chipping Sparrow, Fox Sparrow, Pine Siskin.
