Hi
I know many people use the scripts for the Sound Taxi audio conversion tool,
and so I want to let people know that they have been updated to run with JAWS
V9. So they can now be used with JAWS 8.0.2173 and V9. There are no new
features - just the installer was updated and the ability to use both Sound
Taxi and Sound Taxi Pro without doing any kind of manual adjustment.
While Sound taxi can be used in conjunction with the jaws cursor, the scripts
give you:
* Shortcut key implementation for Sound Taxi functions, such as Control+O for
the Open dialog, F4 to convert selected files and many other options. Keyboard
shortcuts are not implemented within Sound Taxi by default.
* A "virtual menu bar" is included. While there is a menu bar in Sound Taxi,
pressing the ALT key by itself does not bring focus to it, nor can you press
ALT with a keyboard combination to invoke an item. I therefore created the
ability to press the ALT key, and use left/right arrow along a virtual menu
bar, hearing the menu options and their corresponding shortcut keys. You can
press Enter on any one of the menu bar options to invoke it or learn its
shortcut key for more efficient implementation later.
* When files are being converted, you can hear a percentage count of the
conversion. You can press a keystroke, F8, to hear the conversion percentage
manually or, if activated via its toggle keystroke F9, you can have an
automatic percentage count occur each time a conversion takes place so the
manual keystroke is not required. If I recall, the setting for whether you
want to hear the percentage count is stored in an .ini file to be remembered
across Windows sessions; I usually do put that ability in there and I am sure
these scripts would be no exception.
If the automatic percentage count is activated, focusing away from the
application, then re-focusing, will cause the percentage count to automatically
continue. This is very useful when converting very long files or several at a
time.
