[blindipod] Re: Is J-Tunes really worth $75?

My goal with portable players is to be able to manage my music and spoken
word audio and be able to play what I want when I want to play it. Although
I purchased an iPod Shuffle over a year ago and used it a lot when I first
got it, I find that, now, I almost never use it. Instead, I use a Book
Port. You can read about the Book Port at the following location:

http://www.hartgen.org/specialist.html

Yes, the Book Port is pricey but it's almost my favorite gadget. Books and
music that I purchase from iTunes, I convert with Sound Taxi and play on the
book Port. Before I discovered Sound Taxi I would burn the books and music
to CD and then rip them back to MP3. The Book Port will also play books
downloaded from Audible.com as well as read html, txt, doc files and
probably more that I don't know about.

As for the cost of a specialty player and the iTunes scripts and Sound
taxi...Well, I suppose it's all a matter of what's important to me and how
much frustration and tedium I'm willing to put up with. To me, it's well
worth the money. I feel as though I have the most control over my reading
and music listening than I've ever had before.

Hannah, I do not recall the Classic being mentioned on Bryan's site, only
the Shuffle, Nano, and other rockbox-compatible players were mentioned. Hope
that helps.
