Hi Eric,
I cant answer your question about rockbox because i don't use it. I've been very happy with the apple fermware.
In the itunes store the purchasing of a track is very easy.
You have to set it up but its ratherh easy.
go to the itunes store, then press tab to get to the edit field.
then type in a search.
press tab to get to the list, i think tab twice.
then you will have to use your jaws curser to look for the price. then use your arrow key to the right tap it twice. then you need to press al+shift+t. this will set the track position.
hope this helps, also they have a demo that works for ten minutes.
and if you need help i can help you. just email me off list and I can try and help.

I just received a 160GB iPod Classic for christmas to replace my old 60GB iPod which was having hard drive issues. If a script were like $20 or even $30, I'd definitely pay, but $75 seems kinda ridiculous. How much does the script help with using the music store? Also, do most people use Rockbox or just the standard iPod firmware? I'd like it if I could get speech on the iPod, but I don't know if I want to mess around with modifying the firmware. Also, I've heard it can't play stuff from the iTunes store and audiobooks.
Thanks in advance.
Eric
