Phillip:
I own and daily use an iPod Video 30 GB. I've used Rockbox now for the last
four months and have come to love it. It's not quite as versatile as the
Apple firmware, because certain file types may not be played using
Rockbox--especially files ending in .AA that come from Audible.com and M4A
and M4V files (representing MP4 video and audio).
But Rockbox is free of charge and it gives you the ability to find, play,
and even manipulate or delete files in ways that an unsighted person simply
cannot do with the Apple Firmware. If you have questions, please write to
me at kbrolin65@xxxxxxxxxx Or join the Rockbox developers/users list. I
wrote a ten-step guide to the installation of Rockbox for the iPod Video,
mainly to help myself. But a couple of listers did ask me to send this to
them, which I did gladly.
