Hi Brian,
No problem, do let us know how you go and let me know if any help is needed. 
a couple of things to note about it:
by default, voicing is only turned on in the menus.
You need to know what version of the iriver firmware you have E.G. jp, K, or 
EU. Australia has EU, not sure what UK would have, it is displayed as you 
boot up the iriver.
Rockbox site has very good documentation, but let me know if you need any 
help with it and I'll see if I can help.
