Hi Steve,
I have had a similar problem with my iPod Shuffle.

In my case, the trouble was with tracks which I had purchased and downloaded
from Real Player Music Store.

Some tracks would play, but others would not.  It was as if, the iPod
Shuffle could not see the tracks.

They always showed as being on the iPod, when viewed on the PC.

I brought the problem up to Real customer service, and they had me try
different things, but never really got a satisfactory answer.

Best I can say is that it just seems to be a hiccup in the iPod Shuffle.
