[blindipod] Deciding which IPOD to buy

Hello, I'm new to the list and was wondering whether I should go ahead and
invest into one of the new Ipods or just get an older one (4gen or first 5Gen).

I read here that the newest Enhanced models and the new Nano won't work with
RockBox, so my question is:

Since RockBox does not access Audible Files and Licensed Music, how difficult
are these units to navigate through when you have a large collection of these
files?

I'd rather wait to use RockBox on an Ipod, since I know much work is going on
to resolve many issues and it still does not use the Ipods processing power to
its fullest yet.

I am a RockBox user with my Archos and I love it, but want to be able to play
downloaded music without having to convert it out to an additional format.
That's the problem I have right now using the WMA which is a pain.

So, since RB does not work with the newest units at all, and I still want to
use it for restricted file types, is it better just to go ahead and purchase
one? Or, should I get one of the older units and hope RockBox will be working
well soon on the unit so I can put it on and swap between the firmwares to play
what I want.

Is anyone using their Ipod for restricted files and using RB for non restricted
types? If so, is it easy enough to navigate through the Apple Firmware to get
to what you want? I know you have to memorize clicks and such which could get
cumbersome.

Any info is helpful.

Thanks,
Vince
