Hi,
Yes indeed, I'm all too familiar with this problem and yes it's very
irritating. As it turns out, it's actually pretty easy to fix. Just change
your .WPS theme to something other than the default .WPS files that are
included with Rockbox. I changed mine and it fixed the problem. It also fixed
the other problem I was having with music skipping. As far as that goes, you
need a theme that doesn't display a peak meter on the display while your music
is playing. I mentioned this in a previous post. These were WMA files that I
converted to MP3. For some reason, any track that was formerly a WMA file
would skip during playback. However, when I changed the WPS theme, the
skipping stopped. Coincidently, changing the theme also resolved the problem of
the player freezing up on me when I tried pressing stop or pause. Like you,
this didn't happen to me all the time, but it was frequent enough to get me
annoyed. I can't say for sure if it's the peak meter that was causing the
freezing up problem, but changing the theme did fix it. You need to go to the
Rockbox web site and find where the WPS files are listed for your particular
music player. Download a few and install them onto your player. You might
have to do some trial and error to see which WPS file does the trick. For
my Iriver H10, I installed the thomasv1 theme. A sighted friend looked at the
display and he told me the display was turned to a monochrome display. It's
not the prettiest thing to look at, but I don't much care how the display
looks, just as long as it works. Try this out and see if it fixes the problem
you're having.

Subject: [blindipod] Rockbox
when I am playing a song with Rockbox and I hit the play button to pause
whatever song I am listening to, it no longer speaks to me the menus or folder
and file names. Also when I hold the play button for a couple of seconds to
stop playback, Rockbox freezes, it doesn't do this every time but more often
than not. Are there any ways to fix this?
Thanks,
Heath
