Speaking of keeping ones place in an audio book with the shuffle, well is
it
just me or has the recently released update for the shuffle not solved
that
problem for people other than me?

No, you can't use Windows Explorer to transfer Audible files, or music
files, to the iPod Shuffle. You can use Windows Explorer to do this if
you
also use a program called Anapod Explorer. However, if you use Anapod
Explorer, you have to use Format 4, and your place is lost if you leave
the
file. So if you want to use Audible books in the Shuffle frequently, you
have to use iTunes. It is possible to do this without scripts, but it's a
lot easier with them.
