Hey Brian, the short version is that yes, you can work this however you wish
without paying extra--based on my experience.
I think Brian Hartgen will probably answer your question more fully than I;
but I do have a bit of experience in this area, because for a couple of
months I played around alternately with iTunes 6 and iTunes 7, trying to
decide which way would be the best. My decision eventually was made for me
when I received an iPod Video as a gift: a model that in fact runs only in
conjunction with iTunes 7.
My own version of the authorisation file was purchased when I was using
iTunes 6. But I found that it works just fine with iTunes 7 as well. One
thing you can do, if you want to play with these things at different times
and on different machines, is that you can install iTunes 6 on one computer
and iTunes 7 on another. If you have the scripts installed on both
machines, using Brian's iTunes 6 scripts on one machine and the new J-tunes
program on the iTunes 7 machine, you can load your authorisation file onto
each machine and they will work at the same time. Or, if you have only one
computer to work with, you can switch back and forth at will between
different versions of iTunes and load the authorisation files whenever you
wish.
Recently I upgraded to Brian's newest scripts with iTunes 7.3. I was able
to load the scripts and the authorisation file into JFW 8 with no problem
and have been using them that way ever since.
