Hi

There is now an additional DAISY module you can purchase for it but I have not read any reviews of it.

Ian,
You say that it does play DASY. I thought I read a review by Brian who said
it didn't. And do you mean that it doesn't save your place in a book or do
you mean that it doesn't save it every time?

Hi Jim, before giving a brief account of my view I ought just to be
clear that I didn't buy the Milestone. It was given to me by its Swiss
manufacturers. However, I hope I haven't let that cover what I have
said about it for In Touch or what I'll say now.

In terms of its design and lay-out, it's very blind friendly and easy to
use. It is also potentially very useful for anyone who needs a little
voice memo recorder for making quick notes or, in other contexts, for
recording longer sessions such as lectures although it would benefit
from an external mike in those circumstances.
As an MP3 player, it's very easy to get stuff on to its SD card, either
directly or via WE and a card reader. This means that it's a usable and
accessible player for someone who's a bit frightened or not very
competent with computers.

I've also just started using it as a Daisy player and am yet to be
convinced that it keeps its place when you stop playing and leave it to
auto switch off.

Finally, memory is obviously always going to be an issue for any serious
audiophile who wants to carry the entire Atlantic back catalogue, or the
collected works of Katherine Cookson around with them. Sorry, that came
out more flippant than I meant it. And then there's the price. It's
expensive for what it is, particularly when you take into account that
it comes with only a 128MB card. But I'm mainly using it for Daisy and
other audio books.

Ian,
In general, are you satisfied with the Milestone or do you wish that you
bought something else?

Don't suppose there are many Milestone 311 owners on this list, but I've
been experiencing a particular difficulty with having mine recognised by
my PC if it's [plugged up via my 7-way Belkin USB hub. Wondered two
things.
One has anyone else had similar trouble. Two, is there in principal a
problem in connecting portable USB audio devices via hubs?

Cheers now.

Ian
