Hi Sherry,

Yes, they do still make them. You can get them from Maplin in the UK,
http://www.maplin.co.uk.

All the best

Hi List,

A long time ago I purchased something that is just like a cassette tape but
has a wire attached to it. I could put this cassette into any player,
including the car, then plug the wire into the headphone jack on my talking
book player and hear it through the external speakers. I now use this with
my Ipod, works perfectly. I listen to my Ipod in the car and on our home
stereo system. You do retain control of the ipod, no remote. I'm not sure
if they make these anymore but it is a very cheap way to use your Ipod with
external speakers and get the sound quality you are used to hearing.

Sherry Wells

Hi Chris,
Yes this is what I was hoping to hear. The Bose wave media centre comes
with a credit card sized remote. Bose claims to enable it to move from
track
to track on your Ipod. But will rockbox be announced through the Bose
system? See below:

SoundDock? digital music system

BOSER quality sound from your iPodR, iPod photo, iPod nano or iPod mini.
Simply dock and play to fill the room with vibrant, detailed sound that
will
revolutionise
the way you experience your iPod.
List of 3 items
? Renowned BOSER sound from each iPodR that offers a dock connector
? Docking cradle charges your iPodR as it plays, with no cables or
adapters
? Credit card-sized remote, controls volume and basic iPodR functions.

I am actually not a fan of a lot of Bose's products, but their
portable products and smaller media centers are an exception. They
really seem to have gotten the concept of big sound from small box
really down. I have not heard any of their devices hooked up to an
iPod, but I suspect the sound would be great if the quality of the
media center in question is anything like their Wave radio.

This topic reminds me of a question I had thought of previously. In
addition to devices like the one mentioned in this post, a lot of
Audio/Video Recievers are now coming with interfaces specifically
designed for the iPod, most take over control of the iPod thus
allowing control of the player via remote. The question I have is
whether or not this is a function of software or hardware. Would it
work with Rock Box? If so, it would be great, the concept of hooking
up a portable player to my home theater system and being able to get
speech to select my choices has me skirting dangerously close to a
Homer Simpson-like reaction of extacy.

Regards,

Chris
