Subject: [blindipod] iTunes 5, initial verdict

Hi
Well there are some very interesting things about iTunes 5 having had an
initial play with it.

The first thing to say is that, if you want to use the jaws scripts, do not
upgrade. stay with iTunes 4.9 for now. There are a number of things which
will definitely not work. But I am convinced they will in a short space of
time. Interestingly enough, my newly created window-eyes set files work
very well, but I am not even getting into that right now.

What is interesting is that Apple have added some new keyboard shortcuts,
but largely the program is inaccessible unless you have the scripts or some
set files. They have though put in some keyboard shortcuts to move forward
and backward in a song, alt control right and left arrow. I have to say
that Apple's audio scanning isn't quite as good as mine (smile), as in the
scripts we have three levels of audio scanning depending upon how much you
want to move through, which is incredibly useful within audible books. But
in the scripts we will keep their audio scanning, which moves you by just a
few seconds of audio, and we'll have a couple of other levels.

I'll write more when I know more about it.
