Hi Brett,
A couple of things in rockbox have changed since august 6th I think.
1 The lang v2 patch was committed.
this patch basically makes some voice strings only work on some targets.
For example if the player doesn't have a rtc then its voice file won't
contain any code that is for the players with rtc. So english.lang has
changed.
The main reason for this is so that the voice files for some players
won't get to big while other players can have larger voice files.
So the ipods and h300s can have more voice strings but some players can't.
Hopefully you can understand what I am trying to say.
Each player now has it's own voice file.
2. p6159 was committed. For details see the patch.
But basically it makes about 80 more splash screens voice. Example it
says "Shutting down" when you turn off the player and "loading" when the
player is loading. When you insert tracks into a playlist it will voice
the progress.
Now to build voice files you will need cygwin.
It is possible to install when you are blind you just need to select all
the packages.
Then you will be able to build rockbox as well if you install cygwin.
Make voices doesn't work at the minute.
Anyway you just need to install cygwin download the voice building files
put lame in your path and build your voice. Also if you get this far you
might want to install some patches.
some good ones are:
p6138,
p6331 (I haven't really used this one)
p6171 (if you can code needs updating)
p6323 (again needs updating)
p6240 (needs updating)
and I wrote p7561 so you might be interested in that one.
as well. All of rockbox and patches are written in c. So you apply the
patch and then edit the source to make changes. actually a little bit of
rockbox isn't in c but 99% of it is.
Anyway let me know how you go and if I can help further let me know.
