Hi Sue,
You can convert the files to something else using iTunes or a variety
of other programs. The drawback of doing this is that you have to
recompress the files in the process so may lose some quality. One way
around this is to transfer the tracks to other players using
RealPlayer. It converts them to a format that will work in the player
as part of the transfer process, but leaves the original file
unchanged on your PC.
If you do want to change the format iTunes uses, choose Preferences
from the Edit menu, or press Control-Comma. Tab until you reach the
tab control in this dialog, and right arrow until you hear "OK
button." This means you're on the Advanced page, but JAWS always
loses focus there. Tab again until you reach "General tab." The
Advanced dialog is a multi-page dialog within Preferences. Right
arrow until you reach the Importing tab, and tab until you reach the
"Import using" combo box, and choose the format you want. You can
then convert music by selecting it, pressing Shift-F10, then "Convert
to MP3" or whatever format you chose. You will now have two copies of
each track you convert - the AAC one and the MP3 one.
