Hi Allison,
A few things spring to mind.
1. What version of Windows Media Player do you have? This is what Taxi
uses to stream. If you have V10, then get V11 now, if not sooner <Smile>.
In my experience, V11 performs much cleaner than V10.
2. What spec is your computer, how much RAM, how big the hard disk etc?
Smaller older hard disks have problems with DMA, Direct Memory Access, and
it could be a DMA problem.
3. Make sure if it is not a high spec PC that JAWS isn't talking when the
conversion is happening. I don't care what anybody says, JAWS is a
veritable resource hog!
4. Try to be sure that your sound drivers are up to date.
5. As others have said, Don't do anything with the computer while the
convertion is taking place, or as little as possible anyway.
By the way people, it works great with Napster. So Brian H, subscribe for
9.95 pounds, download all you can eat, and convert away <Smile>.
All the best
Steve

Subject: [blindipod] problem with sound taxi.
Hi all!
I managed to get sound taxi installed on my system and registered without
any major mishaps. However, when I played back a song which I had converted,
I noticed that it skipped. It's a song from rhapsody, and I was converting
from the original wma format to a 192K (they called it 190 K) mp3 file. Is
there anything I can do to keep this from happening? I bought this program,
and I really like it for the most part, but I need it to function reliably.
Thanks!
Allison
