hmm a bit confused.
I can't turn my Ipod when the hold switch is on, as that is designed to stop 
accidental press on the click wheel.
when you say hold switch, are you referring to the  switch on the top left 
of the Ipod?

Hi Mark

You boot the player as usual, with the hold switch on. Then, as soon as the
player says that it's loading Apple Firmware (Yes I know, not very helpful*
you take the hold switch off. That's what the Rockbox manual says anyway.
