Hello Kelly,

1. The sound cannot be adjusted on the Zen Stone 1 GB. It is pretty good as is.
2. Yes, the player will need replacing once the battery dies.
3. The battery can be recharged without a computer if you purchase an AC adapter with a USB connection. I purchased one for $.99 plus shipping from Hong Kong through eBay. A follow up comment. Besides owning the Stone 1 GB, I have recently purchased the successor to Creative's Zen Stone called the T100. I got the 4 GB model. It is slightly smaller and is identical to the Stone as far as features go with one addition. There is a single button which toggles on and off what they call bass boost. To me, it sounds like it boosts high frequencies as well as lows. Also, the T100 has a built-in USB connection which eliminates the need for a USB cord.

HTH,
Jeff

Hi,
After reading Anna Dresner's book "A Pocketful of Sound", and looking at the players available, I've decided to at some point get a Zen Stone. I have a few questions about the player:

1. How is the sound quality, and can it be adjusted, such as if the tone is too high? 2. I was told that if an iPod's battery couldn't handle a charge anymore, you'd have to get a new player. Since the Zen Stone's battery is irreplaceable, as I understand it, would this be the case as well? 3. Speaking of the battery, can it be charged with an AC adaptor, or do you have to have it plugged into the computer? I'm just thinking of situations where I'd like to take it with me but there may not be a computer available if the battery dies. As well, can you tell by listening when the battery's going to run out and need recharging?

   Thanks.

Yours Sincerely,
Kelly John Sapergia
