[blindipod] Putting Audible Content onto an iPod

I currently play Audible books on an iPod Shuffle, loading them via iTunes.
I am planning to change to using an iPod Nano for this purpose. Can I
by-pass iTunes and paste the Audible books onto the Nano using Windows
Explorer?
