Hi Brian
Congratulations for getting this excellent program out. I have just one or two
observations from just a little use. Perhaps you could confirm or correct my
thoughts.
I have a new machine with a Vista Premium and XP Home dual boot. I've put
JTunes onto both and am using Jaws 9.
I had difficulty with both at first, and still am a little.I could not find the
correct places like Music even although maximised in both operating systems.
When I tried retraining, on the first press of the JTunes key and z the machine
went silent and stayed that way until I pressed the same combination again. I
then set the trackname colour successfully. I also found that when I came out
of the Itunes by alt f4 that I had to reboot as pressing enter, space etc.
would not activate anything. I had a look at my display settings and in XP I
noted they were at 800x600 so I changed them to 1024 by 768 (or about that) and
certainly in XP things worked better from that point. Is the resolution
important - from previous versions I thought it wasn't. In Vista I wasn't so
lucky - it's still not right. Being new to Vista I'm struggling a little to
find my way around still - my resolution was low but I could not find Display
in the Control Panel, only Nvidia controls whichwhen I entered, I was told that
my optimum resolution for that card was 1200 and something - a level higher
that 1024, etc. I allowed it to change this but I still don't get everything
recognised in Itunes.
On trying to buy a track in both I was unsuccessful in Vista - I presume it may
be due to the colour settings and resolution.
I wasn't successful in XP either at first but when the resolution was set it
worked. However when buying a track the machine appeared to crash when trying
to download. It went silent and I left it to download the track then reset with
the reset button. Obviously it may have been Itunes itself that was at fault -
I've never had this before and so I wondered if there may be a clash. Only time
and future downloads will tell. After this I couldn't find the downloaded track
in my purchased items, neither in my library, so I assumed it hadn't been
downloaded. When I tried re-buying it, I was told it had already been bought
and to check in the store menu if it had been downloaded. I did this and was
assured it had been by Itunes. I tried again to find it in the library and
after a while it appeared, but it's still not in the Purchased items.
I don't think my download problem was necessarily due to the new scripts -
indeed I like them - but I'm just flagging up my unusual experience in case it
happens to anyone else. Perhaps you could confirm resolutions and setting up
procedures for XP and Vista - the initial silence on training I hope to get
over when my sighted reader comes.
Regards, and thanks again for such a resource.

Hi Richard
The window definitely needs to be maximised before you even do a search for a
track to buy, then I find it works fine.

Subject: [blindipod] question about buying an individual track with j tunes
Hi Brian:
I seem to be having trouble downloading individual tracks from the music
store.
I am running jaws 9, the latest versions of both j tunes and iTunes.
I go to the selected track and the music store, and push jTunes key b to
buy the slected track. It says buy track please wait and then seems to do
nothing after that.
Your thoughts?
I am also runing windows xp pro.
