Hi, Nicki. Good to have you on this list. The iPod video is totally
awesome, and now that they have made RockBox so easy to install, for you it
won't be a problem in the least. I have the 30GB model, and it is good,
overall. Battery life is excellent for me, and it is relatively easy to
switch back and forth between the Apple firmware and RockBox. The only very
annoying thing that I can tell you is this: In RockBox, most times, when
you are listening to a long file, it locks up and you must re-boot the
Video. I have no clue as to why this is, but I really wish they would fix
it. It is absolutely a pain to get two hours into a drama and realize that
your unit is totally locked up tighter than a drum. Of course, when you
re-boot the iPod, you begin again at the beginning of the file. This is
about the only downside I've seen, so if you're seriously thinking about a
Video, go for it. The problem I mention does not happen at all under the
Apple firmware, while reading Audible books. I suspect that it is a RockBox
issue and not an iPod one. I hope this has been of some small help to you
in making your decision. Let us know how you are getting along and if we
can help you further.
