[blindipod] Trouble: NNo New Podcasts!

This is an iTunes question, though it does not involve specifically the iPod or
any other portable player. At various times I use either JFW 7 or JFW 8.
Recently I downgraded from iTunes 7.1, which I had used withBrian's iTunes 7
interface, to Ver. 6. I did this thinking that it would facilitate my buying
music more effectively, since most people say that the innterface for Ver. 6 is
said to be more stable and reliable. It also permits me to use JFW 8 with
iTunes.
But in changing my version of the core iTunes program, I apparently have
disabled my access to new podcasts. After highlighting PODCASTS in my source
directory, I have an UNSUBSCRIBE button near the bottom of my screen that
appears whether or not I have anything in my actual Podcasts folder in
MyDocuments. Instead of having a REFRESH button, I get just an elipsis. And,
if I play an old episode of a Podcast (by double-clicking it from MyDocuments
so that the program opens in iTunes), I cannot download new episodes even
though I believe all my iTunes settings are correct. I can't even seem to
subscribe to new podcasts or to find them in iTunes' podcast directory, even
though this has worked for me in the past. And if I try to unsubscribe to
something that seems to be an active podcast, I cannot do this because the
UNSUBSCRIBE button showing at the bottom of my screen does not work.
Why has this ability to download or update podcasts disappeared? Anyideas?
Before doing my downgrade from iTunes 7 to 6, I completely uninstalled iTunes 7
first. I made sure the old mTunes library files, too, were deleted from the
iTunes section of MyMusic.
