Hi,
Your iPod should just show up as another drive, I didn't have to do anything to
mine, it just showed up. Yes, the ipodpatcher.exe file, when double clicked,
will go off and determine what port your ipod in on and will give you info
about disk space and format etc. You then just press "I" to install the boot
loader, or "U", if you later wish to uninstall it. Much easier to install than
previously.
Cheers,
brett.

Subject: [blindipod] Rockbox questions
Hello all,
I ordered an iPod 30GB video online yesterday, and should be receiving it in
a couple of days' time.
I have meanwhile been reading the installation process in the Rockbox manual.
I also just finished listening to Brian Hartgen's demo on installing Rockbox
on an iPod Nano.
The demo must have been created sometime back, as the instructions have
changed since.
On reading the manual, certain things were not very clear.
My questions:
1. The manual mentions the following:
'After downloading the Rockbox package connect your player to the computer
via USB as described in the manual that came with your player. Take the file
that
you downloaded above, and extract its contents to your player’s drive.'
Question: Will my player automatically be displayed as another drive on the
computer as soon as I connect it to the USB port, without having installed
anything on it?
2. The manual recommends that I download ipodpatcher.exe in order to install
the bootloader.
Does this mean that this has been automated and the commandline procedure
previously followed has been done away with?
Many thanks as always for your responses.
Geetha
