Hi Tracy,
You can still get the Iriver 320 and 340 at the moment advanced mp3
players still do them as far as I'm aware.

Hi,
ITunes works with JAWS scripts available from TandT-consultancy.
www.tandt-consultancy.com
The IPod shuffle is accessible meaning, it is useable by a blind person,
but it does not speak.
It has only one control so to speak, it's a wheel that you press
different parts of it. E.G. the top to play a track, the bottom to stop
left and right go through a track. etc.
The best player I'd highly recommend if you want voice feedback and
folder navigation is the IRiver H340 player.
If you use rockbox on it, it will speak file and folder names and will
speak the menues. Installing rockbox is not for the faint hearted, but
it is manageable and if you want pretty my full access to a player then
get the IRiver H340.
GOod luck.
Anyone who would like to add more? or have I answered accurately enough
for you?
Cheers,
Scott

Subject: [blindipod] new to the list, and questions
Hi everyone,
My name's Shermeen, and my boyfriend recommended that I join this list
as I have some questions pertaining to the accessibility of ipods and
other media players (for the record, why can't it be called an mp3
player? or is that apple's term only?).
I fear that the questions I'm about to ask have probably been asked
before, so if you'd rather reply to me personally instead of clogging
the list, please feel free to do so (khan3450@xxxxxx). And I apologize
if this is going to sound repetitive.
1. I visitted the rockbox website, but unfortunately didn't find much
information about the accessibility for blind people using ipods. So,
are any apple ipods currently accessible to the blind? and by
accessible, I mean is there a voice interface that allows us to
navigate/create folders etc?
2. If so, which versions of the ipod are currently accessible?
3. Are there any other media players that you've found to be more
accessible than the ipod with rockbox or related software? I'm looking
for something at least 4 gb in size(the bigger the better!). If so, what
have you found to work?
4. I haven't found that Itunes is very Jaws-friendly--what other
third-party software have you found works for you? ideally, I'd like to
be able to view the songs already on my player so that I don't download
(or upload? LOL) the same song twice.
LOL I think that's about it for now. Thanks in advance for answering,
and please feel free to e-mail me off-list to avoid too much list
traffic.
Take care,
-Sherm~
