[blindipod] Weird, bazaar problem

I am having the world's most bazaar issue with Itunes. Maybe someone could
shed some light on this. I was gonna call Apple care about it, but they
want like, 40 something odd bucks just to support me, so I said to heck with
that. Any who: Basicly, in a nutshell, I had restored my ipod with the
ipod 2006 updater, as I do that usually about once every couple months
anyway, just to ensure that the hard disk in it stays in fairly good
nonfragmented condition. Anyway, that's irrelevent. So, I go back into
itunes. It doesn't ask me the new name for my ipod, and it says when I hit
the grave key, that it cannot establish update information from the ipod,
that it may not be connected. OK, well, that's really strange as I checked
and it most certainly is connected, not to mention the fact it did show up
as Chris's Ipod in the source list. Now, if I go to the options multi,
multi tab dialog box, and go to the music tab under the ipod tab, then I do
see that it says manage songs manually radio button checked. Now, here's
the really weird thing: If I change this to automatically update, then it
does then change to say ipod update is complete, or whatever it says. Don't
remember the exact wording. However, then, if I go in the source list to
Chris's Ipod, then tab over to the item's list, and start arrowing down, I
see nothing. Not even one song. Absolutely nothing. I even did a itunes
modifyer+n when sitting on the ipod in the source list, which again is
called Chris's IPod. Only reason it says that instead of just IPod is cause
I renamed it with the F2 key. When I first got itunes and the scripts up
and running, it saw the contents of the ipod just fine. Heck, it even let
me set it to not automatically update. The problem now is, I went into the
options the other night and set it to automatically update, as I wanted to see
how that worked. Well, ever since: nothing but trouble. I don't know
what is left to do. When I'm in the options and I try to switch it to
manual updating, it does say to disable auto updating, it is required to
manually eject the ipod first before any disconnecting. OK, well, I did
that and ejected, but then, it obviously doesn't see my ipod, and then, if I
go to options, none of them are there, as it says to me no ipod is
connected. I restored the unit, and even went as far as to uninstall
completely all traces of Itunes, a corse moving my library to another folder
first so I din't lose it, Hehheh. Then, I reinstalled, and had no luck.

One thing that I did do, however, that kind a sort a worked, was to
uninstall the itunes software, then, while it was uninstalled, then run the
ipod restore. Then, I went and reinstalled. Well, that deffinently brought
up the ipod setup wizard, and asked me it's name and do I wanna update
manually etc. I unchecked the box to update automatically like I usually
would have done. Well, I hit OK. Guess what, it couldn't retreive any
update information, the ipod may not be connected. I then switched it back
again to automatically, and then, Ipod update is complete, although, it
really didn't update any songs or anything. No way. I have over 400
songs and it only took about 2 seconds to say that, so it must have then
found the ipod update info, but it didn't really update. Then in the file
menu, alt+f. If I go to update songs on Ipod, it takes maybe 3 seconds
then it's done. If I look in the items list under Chris's IPosd, I see
nothing at all. I then used Anapod and transfered over the songs as a last
resort... I didn't even have anapod installed until then as I needed some
sollution, since I was going out that night.... Well, that worked, and
through Anapod I could even see that everything transferred, but then when i
went to itunes, again: nothing. and again, it couldn't update. What in
the bloody heck could be the problem. This is literally the most bazaar
thing I've ever seen in my ipod days. I have absolutely no objections to
using Anapod, except that I paid 52 bucks for these itunes scripts, and I
don't want that 52 bucks to go to waste all due to something ignerant that
i'm not understanding. I know the Itunes accessible interface manual did say something about the audo
fill option and bringing up the contents of the ipod in a new window but I
don't really think that would be relevant in this instance. I must say
though: I'm totally stumped. Someone please help, I really don't wanna
waste my money invested for those scripts for nothing.
I'm striking out.

I mean, I feel I've exhausted all possibilities.
Chris.
