[blindipod] Rockbox: having some minor issues
- From: "Chris Gilland" <cknc@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>

I have an IPod Mini. This is the second generation Mini 4 gigs. I
downloaded the rockbox software and was able to read the boot partition
table and install the boot loader with no errors from the command line
prompts. I even was able successfully to write the firmware with the
rockboot.bin bootloader to the IPod. The problem now, however, is that I
then installed the Rockbox software, but I get no speech. I don't care what
context of the IPod I'm in, there is nothing from a speech standpoint. It's
working just as if it did prior to installing anything. i am guessing I'm
doing something wrong, as they have in deed made a version of Rockbox for
the 2nd generation mini gray scale models, like I have. Like i say, mine is
the one that holds 4gb. It just doesn't make since to me. Now, one thing,
that the documentation does say, is to be sure that Itunes can see and treat
your ipod as a regular external hard disk. It then said to copy the rockbox
software to the top level root directory of my Ipod. I did just what it
said, but then, when I go to windows explorer, and hit ctrl+A to select all
the files in my c:\rockbox folder, then I go into itunes and move to the
library, then hit the letter c, until I get to Chris Gilland's IPod, then I
tabbed over to the item's list. Then, when I hit ctrl+v, it does say
pasted, but then, if i try to down arrow, I get nothing except the obvious
of my music, audio books, etc. No data files though. If I go to my Ipod
through Windows Explorer, which is my K drive, I don't see the .rockbox
folder nor the rockbox.Ipod file. It's as if, the only way I can copy it to
the root drive is to not use Itunes, but just to manually copy it with
windows explorer, but of corse in doin
that, it doesn't work.
