Hi. I haven't read all the messages in this topic. however...
once you installed rock box, your I pod may be booting up with the apple
firmware. When the Ipod is unplugged from the computer, turn it off by
holding down the key at the six o'clok position.
When you're sure it's off, you should be able to feel the drive spin down,
turn it on by holding down the 12 o'clock key and while you're doing that,
hold down the center circle shaped buttom until the Ipod boots up. that
should boot into rock box if it is installed correctly.
and, just running your finger clockwise around the outside part of the wheel
should bring the volume up if it's down.
Hope that helps.
Cameron.

It didnt' work plugging it into the amp.
Nor did having only have 1 mp3 in the route and hitting play, presuming that
the defaults for the rockbox build on ipods is the same as Iriver. IE.
OFile View is set to only show supported files and ergo if I've one mp3 int
he route that'll be shown and the .rockbox directory wont' be.
Cheers,
Dj Paddy

Hi Anna,
I've got the boot-loader installed now.
It wrote several lines of code to the firmeware.
Thanks for that.
However, I still have no speech from the unit.
I've no idea if the volumes really low on the player....
I used the Rockbox Utility to install all the files this time and it did so
successfully.
Still no speech.
Can you please tell me how to raise the volume of the player?
From going into the menu and what buttons to press?
Tahnks, and I'm going to plug it into an amp I have hear in case I can pick
up on some speech by turning it up loud to get into the volume controls,
though i doubt I will hear anything.
Thanks again,
Dj Paddy

Hi DJ Paddy,
Sounds like you still need to install the Rockbox bootloader. The manual has
a link to download a program called iPodPatcher. When you run it with the
iPod attached to your PC, you are given the option to install it. Type I and
press Enter. The bootloader should be installed, and all should be well.
Another thing to check is that you have renamed the voice file to
english.voice, and that it is in the .rockbox\langs folder.
HTH,
Anna
